(from CNN article, really just googled “Rihanna grammys 2015”)

That was honestly the first thing that came to mind when I looked down at my notes. Although Rihanna looked great at the Grammys this year, that is not what this blog post is about.

“Where have we been?” is a excruciatingly open ended question. I can think; “Well “we” as a human race have traveled and conquered all land masses in world, as well as go to the moon.” and “What did it take for the human race to get from point A (neanderthals for example) to point B (where we are today)?” Also, where have we been in the place of ever changing and evolving ethics and morals? On another note, I think that the literal evolution of humans (bacteria to us) is best represented in the following video:

However, I will be focusing on the evolution and changing of human ethics and morals. Older generations tend to complain about how “awful it is to be alive now” but when I think of it, in the middle ages for example, people could literally burn your house down and enslave your family and others will just say, “Well, it was night time.” and shrug their shoulders and walk away. Now, we know that it’s wrong to do that and you would hopefully get punished for doing so. It’s a great time to be alive! Technology! Netflix! Anne Hathaway!

Anyways, as empires rise and fall, technology is developed, discoveries are made, the way us as a society thinks changes as well. For example, it’s said that empires sprung from the creation of slavery, and although it’s still prominent in todays society, we know (or most of us know) that it’s really rude to enslave people. Another example could be womens rights. For a while we weren’t even considered humans, and it wasn’t until 1920 until we were allowed the right to vote. The world isn’t a perfect place for equality, however people’s ideas of “who should wear the pants in the relationship” has changed (personally everyone should be wearing the pants, they’re comfy).

Where are we going with all of this?

Well hopefully to a place where I can walk down the street at night and feel safe :)

I believe with the help of the internet and social media, people aren’t as ignorant as they used to be since so much information is right at their fingertips. People are becoming more aware of what’s going on around them and in the world, and are speaking out/demonstrating/tweeting/posting about it. This world we live in has horrible tragedies happening all over the world, however, more people are knowing about them and discussing them and making sure that they aren’t just a 5 minute segment during the news that no one will really watch because it’s Tuesday night and most of us are really tired. Humans are being given their own drums to march to, and I think its got a pretty sick beat.
